An exhibition of new paintings, Marina Adams’s “What Are You Listening To?” situates color and form as the forces that drive expression. Open from May 17 through June 25 at LGDR (formerly Salon 94), the show draws lines between the architecture in which it is created and presented, noting both the shift in the artist’s work after relocating from industrial Brooklyn to a newly constructed, naturally-lit space in Long Island, and the way Adams’s work reacts to the space in which it is hung. On view, visitors can expect to uncover snippets of the artist’s influences, like music, textiles, tribal objects, and folk art, exemplified in works like Let the River Answer and EttaEllaEartha.
