Mark Grotjahn: Horizontals

Mark Grotjahn’s “Horizontals” is now on view through August 7 at Gagosian in Hong Kong. The exhibition features new and recent paintings from the artist’s “Capri” series, in which the artist interweaves color, perspective, seriality, history, and the sublime. Extending from the body of work he created on the island of Capri, Grotjahn’s new paintings are a manifestation of full abstraction, echoing German Expressionism and Italian Futurism with the use of multicolored linear vertices created with the palette knife.
