Masterpieces of Japanese Art from the End of the 19th Century to the Present

The special exhibition “Masterpieces of Japanese Art from the End of the 19th Century to the Present” is on view at Museum of Modern Art Tokyo (MOMAT) through September 26. Presented in conjunction with the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the collection explores Japan’s transition from centuries of isolation to exchanging with the West, and finally establishing its own artistic identity. The exhibition features approximately 250 works from then to now, including important cultural properties such as Serving Girl in a Spa by Tsuchida Bakusen and Camp at Kisegawa by Yasuda Yukihiko.
