Tiona Nekkia McClodden: MASK / CONCEAL / CARRY

On view through October 8, Tiona Nekkia McClodden's “MASK / CONCEAL / CARRY" is the fourth exhibition to be featured at 52 Walker.

July 13, 2022 - October 8, 2022

The fourth exhibition to be featured at the new art space 52 Walker is Tiona Nekkia McClodden’s “MASK / CONCEAL / CARRY.” On view through October 8 (and coinciding McClodden’s exhibition at The Shed), the show features a custom installation of lighting, in which viewers are bathed in blue light as they wander through the artist’s showcase of new paintings, videos, and objects. Dualistic in its meaning, the title considers themes of masking and concealment both in relation to her experiences as an autistic adult and in association with firearms—which leads to “carrying,” which also references psychological topics of trauma.
