VOLTA New York returns this spring with cutting-edge programming and the debut of a new location. Through May 22, 49 national and international galleries will exhibit works by an impressive cohort of world-renowned and newly celebrated artists.
The art fair brings together young and middle-market galleries, as well as established galleries, such as Leila Heller (New York/Dubai), Galerie Ernst Hilger (Vienna), Ethan Cohen (New York), and INDA Gallery (Budapest) to present their emerging artists in an experimental forum.
This year, the fair launches its inaugural “Spotlight Prize for NFTs” presented in collaboration with Artsted, an organization empowering visual artists to mint authenticated NFTs of their works. Galerie l’Atelier presents a new live-painting art activation by Belgian artist Denis Meyers. More than 20 art galleries will make their VOLTA New York debut this year and over 30 galleries will return from past years.
Coinciding with the Frieze Art Fair, VOLTA New York newly opens at 548 West 22nd Street. In joining the Ramsay Fairs family in 2019, VOLTA is back with a refreshed vision as a global art destination for thoughtful curation and creative exploration.
Kamiar Maleki, Director of VOLTA, said about this year’s fair, “We put so much hard work and effort into VOLTA over the past two years. We’ve re-strategized and re-positioned, traveling to cities like Copenhagen, Vienna, Madrid, Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Mexico, New York, and Miami to cultivate new exhibitors, fresh talent, and wider constituencies.”
