The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is celebrating the re-opening of its SCAD Lacoste campus with the exhibition “Notre Ami, Pierre Cardin,” on view through September 3. Honoring Cardin’s relationship with the university and longstanding role of mentor to many of its students, the show features an installation fashioned after the designer’s residence near Cannes, Palais Bulles. Curated by SCAD’s head of fashion exhibitions, Rafael Gomes, working in collaboration with Pierre Cardin Paris and Rodrigo Basilicati, “Notre Ami, Pierre Cardin” features two SCAD-produced films—including the award-winning I Am Thinking of Pierre Cardin—and a selection of memorable garments, like a swirling black and white jersey cocktail dress with wing-like sleeves or a one-shouldered gown in red with a sculptural hooped skirt.
