Atlanta Contemporary is showing “Of Care and Destruction“—its 2021 Atlanta Biennial presentation. The exhibition continues the art center’s visual assessment of deep vernacular traditions in art from Southeast America. For this presentation, works that continue this thread are seen, in addition to those that confront the social issues caused by COVID-19, racism, inequality, and the role artists play in communicating this time. Curated by Dr. Jordan Amirkhani, the show is dedicated to the vital work of Stacey Abrams, Helen Butler, Felicia Davis, and Nsé Ufot, featuring an array of mediums the artists chose to express their concerns, including textiles, ceramics, found materials, and photographs.
