Monica De Cardenas

On Paper: Marco Belfiore, Lupo Borgonovo, Elena Ricci, Federico Tosi

On Paper” is on view at Monica De Cardenas through April 30, 2021. The group show presents the work of four Italian artists—Marco Belfiore, Lupo Borgonovo, Elena Ricci, Federico Tosi—whose drawings are central to their practice. Belfiore’s “Random Access Memories” series is inspired by Picabia’s erotic machine illustrations of the early 1900s. Borgonovo’s works on paper find a range of inspiration, from a plate collection at The Met to 17th century Dutch still lifes. Ricci’s drawings explore borders between worlds, from the real to the dreamed. And Tosi’s daily practice of drawing results in works like Slime Lapse and a series of unexpected subjects.
