Centre Pompidou presents “Evidence,” a new site-specific and multidisciplinary exhibition by Soundwalk Collective & Patti Smith. The innovative show is curated by Chloé Siganos, Head of the Performing Arts Department, and Max Colard, Head of the Talk Program. From 2019-2021, Patti Smith and Stephan Crasneanscki created “Perfect Vision”: three albums inspired by French poets Antonin Artaud, Arthur Rimbaud, and René Daumal, and their poetic voyages to the Sierra Tarahumara of Mexico, the Abyssinian valley of Ethiopia, and the Himalayan Summit of India respectively. “Evidence” is impassioned by the artists’s spiritual journeys and musical compositions, immersing viewers in a modern dialogue on the universal, and providing an inside look into the hearts and minds of thoughtful visionaries. Associated programs alongside the exhibition include “The Patti Smith Poetry Day” on October 22 and 23 (in which the electric spirit of Patti Smith will inspire writing workshops, performances, and readings) and “Perfect Vision – Live” on October 22 (Patti Smith, Stephan Crasneanscki and Simone Merli of Soundwalk Collective will hold a live performance with meetings).
In an essay titled, All is evidence, by Smith, the artist describes the exhibition as “Verification, substantiation, corroboration, affirmation, authentication, attestation, documentation, declaration, signs, traces, manifestation.”
