Rencontres d’Arles: Summer of Fireflies

For its 52nd year, Les Rencontres d’Arles photography festival is being held in Arles at Atelier de la Mécanique in Parc des Ateliers, at Monoprix and Croisière, from July 4 to September 26, 2021.

This year features around 20 exhibitions, and several other presentations associated with the event in the region as part of Grand Arles Express. This includes Mucem, FRAC PACA, Collection Lambert, and Centre Photographique Marseille.

Festival director Christoph Wiesner has chosen to not only highlight established artists and global figures, but also emerging artists like Sonia Voss and Amanda Antunes. Les Rencontres d’Arles reflects the social changes that photography has continually adapted to, featuring ideas of gender and identity throughout the emerging scenes and large group exhibitions.
