Charlie James Gallery presents “More Alive,’’ an exhibition of works by Oakland-based artist Sadie Barnette. In the exhibition, viewers will find 6 powdered graphite on paper drawings from the artist’s “Text Compositions’’ series, relating to ideas of community, agency and resilience. Works such as People in Motion, Change, More Alive, We All We Got and Together provide a direct response to the contemporary moment. “My Text Compositions point to, walk around, and dance with ideas too big for words,’’ points out Barnette. “More Alive’’ also features photo-based works exploring community, activism and the contemporary moment as well, ranging from the disastrous fires that recently devastated Northern California to a disused Oakland garage framed by a swirl of children’s stickers.
