Sahar Khoury: Orchard

Sahar Khoury

The artist’s second exhibition with Rebecca Camacho Presents, Sahar Khoury’s “Orchard” (on view through February 18) features a suite of new sculptural works. Composing a series of landscape constructions, Khoury’s new forms bear influences of her time spent as the artist in residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts last fall—like the introduction of wood to her practice, which the artist cut herself during the residency. Also utilizing mediums like ceramic, paper-mâché, and metal, the visitors at the gallery will find works like the titular Orchard (a chandelier mobile hovering over the installation), a rectangular time machine-like construction begun in 2017; and an aluminum figure of Khoury’s cat, which sits on a perch made of wood, cement, stoneware, rug scraps, and other materials.
