On view through October 10, The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth’s “Sean Scully: The Shape of Ideas” is a retrospective featuring Scully’s most important works dating from the 1970s through the current day. Detailing the relationship between the abstract artist’s prints, drawings, pastels, and paintings, the exhibition brings together more than 90 works that represent Scully’s evolution as an artist, including paintings experimenting with the use of the grid, like the 1972 Harvard Frame Painting, multi-paneled paintings from the 1980s, and works from Scully’s explorations through printmaking, like the 2005 Day. Organized by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where it will be presented in the spring of 2022, the exhibition is accompanied by a publication of the same title.
