Opening for the occasion of Frieze Week in Seoul, Pace Gallery is presenting the first solo exhibition in Asia of the artist Adrian Ghenie. Filling the complex’s second- and third-story main exhibition rooms, the Romanian artist’s exhibition features works on paper exploring his latest medium of choice, charcoal. On view from September 2—October 22, the presentation of 28 compositions continues Ghenie’s exploration of figuration and mark-making, which here juxtapose eerie, grotesque creatures rendered in dark, fluid lines, as they partake in actions synonymous with our contemporary society—masked, watching television, or fidgeting with their cell phones.
