Presented simultaneously at Gagosian’s 980 and 976 Madison Avenue galleries, Takashi Murakami’s “An Arrow through History” connects the physical and digital realm in the gallery’s first-ever use of VR technology. At the 976 Madison Avenue space, Murakami’s Clone X NFT project sees a series of three-dimensional figures and highly-detailed portraits imagining physical takes on the artist’s digital creatures. Meanwhile, the fifth floor of 980 Madison Avenue houses paintings made surrounding the artist’s Murakami.Flowers NFTs, which make up Murakami’s latest exploration of the iconic flower motif. The dual presentations are accompanied by a digitally-rendered viewing experience by RTFKT and Oncyber, which invites remote viewers to experience Murakami’s latest works via computer screen or VR headset.
