The fourth edition in a program of guest-curated video exhibitions, “The Depths” will occupy Locust Projects’ Screening Room with a two-part video series curated by the filmmaker and artist Beatriz Santiago Muñoz. From November 19 to December 23, 2021, the first installation will include Sofía Gallisá Muriente’s Asimilar y Destruir (Assimilate and Destroy I) and The Lake and the Lake by Sindhu Thirumalaisamy, which looks at the toxicity of Bangalore’s Bellandur Lake. And from January 5 to February 5, 2022, part two will feature Isabelle Carbonell’s The Blessed Assurance, Colectivo Los Ingrávidos’s Coyolxauhqui, and the film work Bocamina/Pithole from Miguel Hilari, which presents a dialogue surrounding workers mining silver ore in Bolivia’s Cerro Rico. Also on view at the gallery is a new immersive video installation by Nadia Hironaka and Matthew Suib and a group installation guest curated by Adler Guerrier and Laura Novoa, featuring works by Andrea Bowers, Sandi Haber Fifield, David Hartt, Jim Hodges, Ebony Patterson, Onajide Shabaka, Ema Ri, and Cristina Lei Rodriguez.
