Villa Carlotta

Villa Carlotta is located in Tremezzo on Lake Como, Italy. Overlooking the shores of Lake Como. The site was built in the late-17th century by Marquis Giorgio Clerici of Milan. In 1801 Villa Carlotta was sold by Caterina Bigli Clerici, the last descendant of the noble Milanese family, to Giovanni Battista Sommariva, at the time President of the Governing Committee of the Cisalpine Republic.

Today, Villa Carlotta is a museum, whose collection includes works by sculptors such as Antonio Canova, Bertel Thorvaldsen, and Giovanni Migliara and furniture pieces from Princess Charlotte of Sachsen-Meiningen. It is surrounded by breathtaking botanical gardens overlooking Lake Como that highlight the original structure and features of Villa Carlotta.
