Wangari Mathenge: You Are Here

Open at Pippy Houldsworth Gallery until November 13, “You Are Here” is an exhibition of works by Wangari Mathenge. With the artist’s personal memories and observations as a reference point, Mathenge’s presentation looks at diasporic experiences of home and the experience of being far from one’s cultural origin. Within Mathenge’s first solo show in the U.K., viewers will find an installation taking the form of a life-sized retro living space, which holds paintings from her series The Expats, along with other works like the vibrant, detailed paintings from The Ascendants series, and a stop-motion animation.
