El Espacio 23’s latest exhibitions spotlights Cuban history and culture from intimate, personal perspectives with new procurements from the Jorge M. Pérez Collection. The sweeping exhibition of over 80 Cuban and Cuban-diaspora, multigenerational artists—such as Wifredo Lam, Amelia Peláez, Loló Soldevilla, Zilia Sánchez, Raúl Cordero, Reynier Leyva Novo, Belkis Ayón, Flavio Garciandía, Elizabeth Cerviño, and Juana Valdés—explores the complex artistic journey. Works consider themes pivotal to their creators: history and hierarchies; gender, race, and human rights; and collective memories of the island of Cuba.
