With recent jewelry and couture houses debuting their latest collections this week in Paris, we’re sharing what’s new from Dior, Cartier, Chopard, and Messika.
Following the figurative rose revealed earlier this year with RoseDior, Dior presented its new Rose High Jewelry collection in Chengdu, China, on June 7. The event was inspired by the historic setting of the private mansion at 30 Avenue Montaigne. Artistic Director Victoire de Castellane created a “Planet Dior,” a galaxy where 160 jewels come into flower, among them are romantic roses, stained glass roses, futuristic roses and abstract couture roses. With sapphires from Myanmar, Colombian emeralds, rubies from Mozambique and sparkling diamonds, the collection is laced with delicacy that express a dreamlike and ethereal sense. For the occasion, models wore dresses designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Creative Director of Dior women’s collections, as they graced the runway to present the expensive high jewelry.
Cartier created a stylized feline interpretation for its new “SIXIÈME SENS” High Jewelry collection. Filled with organic textures and shards of shimmering gems, each piece is electrified with flavorsome hues. Using trompe-l’œil and graphic patterns, optical illusions and the power of evocation, compositions aligned beautifully against the skin, like the hypnotic checkerboard Merid necklace, emerald bedazzled Alaxao necklace and the 8.20 carat ruby Phaan ring.
This week, Chopard exhibited a new “Red Carpet” collection in its boutique on the Place Vendôme. The collection is a fanciful paradise filled with dreaminess through its craftsmanship, created by Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele. Entirely crafted in the maison’s Haute Joaillerie ateliers, the “Red Carpet” collection embodies the technical expertise and creativity of the finest crafters. Notable pieces include a dog-themed necklace composed of colored pearls and diamonds, a vision of nature staged through a Fawn pendant, as well as an opal and yellow sapphire floral ring. This selection also featured a cuff bracelet set with multicolored stones, as well as gem creations of a yellow diamond necklace and a pink sapphire jewelry watch.
Messika’s “Magnetic Attraction” collection is focused on presence and energy, giving emphasis on the brand’s ethos: How to find one’s place in this new social ballet, where relationships with others have changed. With movement being a central element of the creation process at Messika, the designer made diamonds dance in this collection of bright and colorful High Jewelry. Playing on contrasts with different jewelry sizes, mixing stone arrangements and combinations, Valérie Messika created 16 pieces that show genuine technical prowess. Delicate pear-cut diamonds are balanced in their gold ring, mimicking pas de deux choreography. The collection also features headpieces, and hand and ankle bracelets that compliment the body as an ode to dance.
