For Cynthia Rowley‘s spring/summer 2016 collection, the New York-based fashion designer wanted to merge the beauty of a classic runway show with the excitement of a surf film—and she did so during New York Fashion Week, before our very eyes, in both video and still-life. After partnering with DJI to use the latest drone technology, Rowley captured the flirtation of her dresses, and the vibrancy of their colors, through 360-degree views on video. The set of the Montauk beach runway show was a 2oo-foot-long mirrored runway on the coast, and the collection that was shown proved to reflect a vivid experience. And if you’d like to see all of the film’s glory in its appropriate place, the beautifully rebellious video will continue to run on the walls of her new headquarters on Morton Street.
By integrating fashion and technology, Rowley showcased her wispy materials in proper light—on the beach, under the sun, and just as colorfully captivating as ever.
