On June 18 in Milan, Jil Sander showcased its 2017 spring/summer collection for men. Softly spoken lines complemented a palette of neutral and pale colors. Each element emphasized the simplicity and individualism advocated by Jil Sander.
The collection consisted of hauntingly modular trench coats, unstructured suits, and cropped blousons. Modest lines and relaxed silhouettes captivated the message of functionality and precision.
In contrast to the sunny disposition of the season, Creative Director Rodolfo Paglialunga presented pieces with cool exteriors. Soft blues, grays, and greens were stylized with sun-bleached effects and faded flowers for texture. Each piece moved with the fluidity of the models and remained silently strong against heavy lace-ups. A burst of orange enlivened the collection while not overwhelming it.
From the boxy figures to the subtlety of design techniques, the individual wasn’t lost under the clothes, merely accentuated and not overpowered by embellishments.
