KidSuper held the grand opening of its new headquarters in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on February 10. Named KidSuper World, it is an artist’s dream house turned reality. The eclectic 10,000 square foot space at 158 Roebling Street houses a technicolor amalgamation of founder Colm Dillane’s creative aspirations: the brand’s first flagship store, an art gallery, design and screen-printing studios, a photo studio, and a podcast studio.
KidSuper World is a Dream House for Creatives
Functioning as both a clothing label and a versatile creative platform, KidSuper encompasses a spectrum of artistic endeavors including clothing design, art exhibitions, music production, and filmography. KidSuper World is a physical manifestation of this multidisciplinary approach, which thrives within the dedicated space. The flagship store, KidSuperMarket, is a vibrant visual feast with playful color blocks of pastel green, pink, and blue coming together to form a contemporary twist on a retro 1950s supermarket. The shelves are filled with KidSuper’s clothing collections. The headquarters’ design, photo, and podcast studios were meticulously designed to harness and emanate Dillane’s infectious creative enthusiasm.
A Community-Based Grand Opening
The inauguration of KidSuper World was an event divided into two distinct celebrations: an open invitation to the community in the afternoon, and an invitation-only gala in the evening. During the afternoon session, the community was invited to participate in consumer-focused activities like a screen-printing workshop and three-panel discussions featuring industry speakers: “Turning Buzz into Business with KidSuper and MSCHF,” “What Does This Song Look Like? The Art of Direction with Director X and Hidji,” and “From Basements to Billboards with Russ and Joey Bada$$.” Attendees also had the opportunity to engage in an exclusive shopping experience and enjoy food from a Wafels in Dingers food truck.
In the evening, KidSuper hosted an invitation-only gala, featuring a red carpet entrance and musical performances by La Orquesta Superband and DJ Odalys. The event was sponsored by Canada Goose, Lovesac, Creatively, and Jägermeister. Notable guests included Jim Jones, Joey Bada$$, Cleptrapa, Karrahbooo, Dascha Polanco, Michael Rainy Jr, Jessie Reyez, and WISDM.
