Moncler's presentation at the Hammerstein Ballroom

Moncler’s Spectacle of Singers, Hydraulics, and Outerwear

No stranger to a spectacle, Moncler Grenoble created yet another impressive production for its fall/winter 2014-15 collection. The Italian outerwear brand built a larger-than-life LED grid at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom that fit 60 male and female choristers dressed in black and white over four levels. Before them stood Pendulum Choir, a Swiss a capella voice orchestra composed of nine singers and an orchestra conductor dressed in Moncler down-filled morning suits. The group stood atop hydraulic platforms that mechanically slanted to carefully orchestrated choreography. The fusion of traditional Alpine songs with electronic sounds provided for an entertaining performance as the singers seemed to defy gravity with each movement of the platform.

The looks evoked all the signature Moncler silhouettes using materials like fur, baby alpaca, English wool, and a breathable waterproof mesh. The audio-visual show itself was indeed a memorable sight. It may have been difficult to get a grasp of what the collection looked like from so far away, but then again, that’s what showrooms are for.
