A private presentation in SoHo was the setting for Haus Alkire‘s fall-winter 2013 collection presentation. Vibrant prints and unexpected pops of texture reappeared throughout the showing. Given that the collection was inspired by “the manner in which light and color reflect off and through surfaces,” the designer’s experimentation with shadow and light seemed wholly appropriate.
A wealth of inter-mixing color and symmetrical shape drew to mind a fashionable Rorschach test in the case of the Banksia flower-inspired print that was used heavily in the collection. Another highlight was an ankle-cropped white silk trouser, which diffused colors along the hem and waistline. The trouser was paired with a white sheer button down, which had similar detailing along its collar and sleeve. Detail and embellishment along hems, collars, and cuffs were common throughout, utilizing Swarovski Elements, as well as furs, anaconda skin, and eel to create texture.
