Flying business class to Paris or Shanghai, or attending a black-tie gala at LACMA, J. Mendel’s spring/summer 2014 collection, which debuted last week during New York Fashion Week, is perfect for the modern Uptown woman that is all work and play.
What was surprisingly new and albeit very well received with the designer’s latest runway feat was the amount of evening separates offered in the collection. Also appreciated was taking floor-length red carpet usuals to above the knee. Lace, the most feminine of embellishments, played a starring role in this spring line and the overall color palette fell toward the pastel end of the spectrum, more favorably pale pink, yellow, and soft grey, with pops of brighter blues, magenta, and stark white.
