Baselworld 2016 kicks off this week, taking place in Switzerland from March 17—24. All this week and next Whitewall will be showcasing highlights from watchmakers and their newest and most novel timepieces. Next up are offerings from Porsche Design and Bremont.
Porsche Design
German lifestyle brand Porsche Design released a new tribute to the lightweight, innovative Porsche 356 with the latest addition to its timepiece collection: the 1919 Datetimer Eternity Black Edition. This sleek wristwatch incorporates minimalist design elements from the Bauhaus Movement, a revolutionary 20th-century Modernist school of art, in a nod to the original Porsche’s heritage. A rerelease of the elegant 1919 Eternity, the edition evokes the functionality and artistry of modern architecture, employing titanium, rubber, and carbide to create stark, durable pieces. The smooth black dial and clean white numerals create an attractive graphic simplicity, while the smoky sapphire glass caseback allows a glimpse into the watch’s complex inner life. The Eternity All Black is available in four different combinations of lustrous titanium and matté carbide.

Bremont
British manufacturer Bremont celebrated the 100th anniversary of The Boeing Company with the release of its latest timepiece: the Bremont Boeing 100. Crafted from Boeing’s signature titanium variant Ti 6-4, the 43mm case encloses a vintage brown metal dial, colored to reflect the “Boeing Brown” cockpits designed for a more relaxed, comfortable flight. A sapphire crystal exhibition back, accentuated with a turbine design, exposes the elegant movements within the watch, while the face displays a chronograph function and GMT hour indicator in the style of flight instruments. Set on a calfskin leather strap, this luxury chronograph’s availability is limited to only 300 pieces.
