Dover Street Market Ginza

In March 2012, Dover Street Market Ginza opened in the center of Tokyo. The spacious 3,000-square-meter store greets guests to retail in an advanced shopping landscape, spanning over six floors in the re-developed Ginza Komatsu West building. Housing all of the Comme des Garçons brands alongside carefully curated designers and artists, this Dover Street Market shop continues the brand’s concept at large, presenting each designer within a space they can design themselves. In addition, traditional artists, theater designers, and architects are invited to intervene in existing spaces—including an elephant work by the English sculptor Stephanie Quayle, wooden trees built by Coudamy Architectures, pulse-like pillars entitled White Pulse by the Japanese artist Kohei Nawa, three giant pictures by Daido Moriyama, white columns by the English artist Matt Clark, a painting by Morio Nakajima, and more.

Whitewaller recommends: Spending some time among Daniela Gregis clothing on the seventh floor in a book space called BIBLIOTHECA and Rose Bakery Ginza.
