Faena Art

Dreaming with Lions

This year for Miami Art Week, Faena Art has commissioned Alexandre Arrechea to create a site-specific installation safely accessible to the public on Miami Beach, just in front of Faena Hotel. Entitled Dreaming with Lions, the Cuban artist looked to Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea for inspiration, incorporating stacks of beach towels and phrases from the existential literary work—like “Now is no time to think of what you do not have. Think of what you can do with what there is.” Taking the form of a rotunda reminiscent of a forum-style library, the 62-feet-in-diameter construction represents our resilience against the endless challenges with which we are faced.
