Imi Knoebel: CENTRUM

Von Bartha presents “CENTRUM,’’an exhibition of new works by German artist Imi Knoebel, best known for his theoretical approach to color and form. Throughout his career, the artist has experimented with color and color combinations , seeking to highlight the physical potentialities behind rudimental materials. The exhibition features five large-scale, monochrome paintings on wood, precisely displayed to suggest the contoured skyline of a city. In addition to the series, Knoebel created a cross-shaped work which symbolically illustrates a church at the centre of this abstract landscape.
