In Times of COVID-19

Katy Donoghue

18 September 2020

For his new exhibition on view at Erin Cluley Gallery, Antonio Turok has put together a selection of recent and past photographs, that portray the beauty and landscape directly surrounding him in his home state of Oaxaca and other areas of Mexico. “In Times of Covid-19” opened through the gallery’s new online platform ECG Viewing Room

The photographer has travelled throughout Mexico and Central America for decades, capturing images that speak of the human condition. Best known for capturing conflict and war, Turok found himself staying close to home duric the current pandemic instead of traveling to document crisis in real life. The exhibition offers a series of photographs, including “Atardecer Agaves y Maiz”, an extreme panoramic capturing the mountains, a passing thunderstorm and the indigenous corn fields.
