Kathy Lovas: CLOTHING CRIMES… and Misdemeanors

On view at the Liliana Bloch Gallery is Kathy Lovas’s new solo exhibition “CLOTHING CRIMES… and Misdemeanors.” The show is inspired by the true-crime story of the artist’s stolen car in 2016. When the vehicle was recovered, Lovas found a mysterious pile of clothing, which she then photographed in her studio at life-size. The exhibition includes an alternative artist’s book containing 88 hand-printed photos via DASS inkjet transfer and a series of additional works dealing with clothing crimes. Working mainly with photography, sculpture and installation, Lovas’s projects are often based on historical narratives, memories from her early life and familiar subjects matter from around her home or studio.
