Our world is Burning

Our World is Burning

“Our world is burning” offers a committed look at contemporary creation in the Arabian Gulf, where wars and diplomatic tensions continue to shape history since the beginning of the 21st century. The title of the exhibition explicitly refers to the human tragedies caused by the successive conflicts in this region and also sounds like an alarmist analysis of the current environmental catastrophes triggered by global warming.

The exhibition presents poetic and emancipatory propositions from artists trying to heal the wounds caused by these events and depicts the new geological era we have entered into; due to the intensity of our industrial production methods, in order to rethink the future of our world. On view is work from Michael Rakowitz, Monira Al Solh, Asli Cavusoglu, John Akomfrah, Yto Barrada, Raqs Media Collective, and more.
