Kris Knight Invites You to “Smell the Magic”

No contributor

Last night, Gucci and Spinello Projects hosted a private preview of Kris Knight’s new pop-up solo exhibition “Smell the Magic.” The cocktail event marked the release of Knight’s first published catalogue as well as the beginning of Miami Art Week 2014. Many notable names from the design, fashion, and art worlds came out to show their support for the painter, and to celebrate the Gucci-sponsored show.

The event comes as no surprise given the past collaborations between Gucci and Knight. The Florentine fashion house and the Canadian painter recently reimagined the brand’s classic floral print for the 2015 cruise collection, combining the classic flora motif with Knight’s dark and mystical aesthetic. In addition, the brand’s head designer, Frida Giannini, found inspiration in Knight’s paintings for Gucci’s fall/winter 2014 collection.

Knight’s paintings are on view in the heart of the Miami Design District at 95 NE 40th Street, and will be daily from 10 am to 8 pm through December 15.
