Blumarine, Hogan, Herno, and Brunello Cucinelli: MFW SS19

For this portion of our Milan Fashion Week coverage, we’re giving you details on the latest in womenswear and accessories from Blumarine, Hogan, Herno, and Brunello Cucinelli.

Blumarine created a fashionable oxymoron, showing a collection of dynamic and romantic activewear. On concrete runway, spandex biking shorts and sports bras in Day-Glo green, fuchsia, and orange peeked out from underneath sequined dresses, knit cardigans, and silky blazers. Some of our favorite looks included: a one shouldered lavender dress; and the simple yet eye-catching cardigan, logo-banded bra top, and pencil skirt combination, all complemented by a pair of matching red shoes and a lanyard worn as a necklace.

Fueled by the effervescent energy of 1980s athletic style, Hogan presented an electric selection of bold accessories. A palette of black, white, and neon joined an array of bags and running shoes, which featured details like multicolored laces and platform soles. Two highlights were certainly the Max.I.Active sneakers and the B-Bag—a white leather bucket shell bag, which reveals a mesh drawstring interior.

Herno’s new collection featured a versatile selection of outerwear, ranging from bubble jackets to A-shaped jackets, and from and vest shapes to kimono-inspired cuts. Perfect for warmer seasons, fabrics like natural cotton, linen, sailcloth, and nylon were complemented by colors like red, moss green, gray, and a multi-colored printed variation. Two of our favorite pieces were the water-resistant parka with rainbow striped seams, and the oversized bomber jacket with quarter-length sleeves.

In a time overflowing with images, influences, and information, Brunello Cucinelli has given us a much-needed break by creating a collection focused on a moment of serenity and authenticity. “Rustic charm” is a phrase that comes to mind when viewing the relaxed silhouettes and earthy palette, which are complemented by a variety of materials and textures like leather, linen, chunky knits, and shiny satin. We especially loved the paper bag shorts paired with a high-neck blouse and a patterned sweater, and the airy white dress with a black leather blazer.
