Celine Homme Introduces Summer 2024 with an Enthralling Video Work

Following the cancellation of Celine Homme’s runway presentation in Paris earlier this summer, the house and Creative Director Hedi Slimane have revealed its Summer 2024 menswear collection with an entrancing video shot at La Gaîté Lyrique and La Grande Rex in Paris, and at the Monte Carlo Opéra Garnier. Named “Delusional Daydream,” it featured the ballet dancer Laurids Seidel and an invigorating soundtrack of LCD Soundsystem’s Losing My Edge, with a concept rooted in couture codes and Slimane’s love for New York City’s scene of youthful, utopian artists.

New York’s Artists Inspired Celine Homme Summer 2024

Slimane’s concept of a “Delusional Daydream” can be traced back to the early 2000s, when the designer took to documenting artists like Dan Colen, Terence Koh, Dash Snow, and Nate Lowman. Today, the idea returned to the forefront of the designer’s creative sights as the city’s post-lockdown atmosphere revealed a similar spark in the air. The inspired collection came to fruition with lean, elegant sartorial shapes, an unapologetic attitude, and a flare of dramatics not typically attributed to the menswear oeuvre.

Between clips of Seidel’s graceful movements, we saw a runway of gold mirrored panels, where mostly-black ensembles unfolded to the upbeat soundtrack. With slim suiting and sets at the forefront, we were enthralled by glittering materializations and surprising sculptural satin in a number of forms. The looks centered staple trousers, which were fitted with a slight flare at the hem. These let the focus fall on pieces like sheer cape-like tops covered in crystals, jackets in luminescent disco tiles, halter neck blouses, off-the-shoulder shapes, structural puffed sleeves on leather jackets, styles taking cues from tuxedo details, and pieces topped with large satin bows,

Celine Homme Summer 2024 Highlights

With each ensemble completed by attributes like skinny black ties, black shades, and sleek, pointed boots with a slight heel, the looks we saw imbued the self-assured coolness possessed by all of our favorite creative icons. Designs we’re still thinking of include a pair of black lambskin pants and a sleeveless jacket with a rocker attitude, worn unzipped sans shirt; a look that featured a sleeveless top with a large satin bow placed jauntily at the hip; and a classic suit and tie that twinkled with tiny ruby-red gems.
