Jil Sander’s Pastel Picnic and Covetable Coats

Jil Sander’s Milan show was like a warm spring picnic, imbued with a spectrum of pretty pastels, as well as vivid hues of pomegranate, teal, and apricot. The mélange of fabrics used in the collection included cashmere, alpaca and jersey, an ideal range for this temperamental New York winter.

Gracefully shaped coats and jackets contour to the body but allow fluid movement. The dresses were impeccably cut, harkening back to early sixties silhouettes. Ensembles that stand out in particular are a rosy Jackie O-esque shift dress and a classic tailored black pantsuit. Bright rubber shoes and handbags punctuated the collection, adding edge and functionality to the collection
