MFW SS20: Bulgari, Valextra, Geox, and More

Though Milan Fashion Week has come to a close, we’re still thinking about these Spring/Summer 2020 collections of accessories from Bulgari, Valextra, Geox, and more.

For Spring/Summer 2020, René Caovilla employed the perfect mix of transparency, glamor, and refinement in its new designs. Reminiscent of a garden bursting into bloom, glittering florals were a mainstay this season, seen in looks like a heeled boot covered in crystals, and a sling back heel with a transparent top. Other highlights included the strappy heel with a flower that wrapped up the leg, and a pair of sparkling black stilettos.

Chic simplicity took the stage in Valextras new collection, which featured a selection of handbags and jewelry. Reminiscent of a doctor’s bag, the brand debuted several variations of a rectangular purse—including a small handbag, a crossbody bag, and a larger duffel iteration—in a classic palette of black, white, soft blue, and red. The jewelry included a series of minimalistic earrings, rings, bracelets, and a necklace composed of smooth gold bars that mimicked the clasp detail on the season’s new bags.

Stuart Weitzman’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection left us thinking of summer days spent on the boardwalk followed by dancing late into the night. Bright colors and playful elements like feathers, beaded macramé, and metallic snakeskin added a lively touch to classic styles like wedges, blocked heels, and sandals. Highlights included the sheer knee-high boots with the floral applique and the bandana print, seen on a series of clutches and espadrilles, which came in sandals and wedges.

Geox debuted a variety of elegant and sporty styles for the upcoming spring and summer. For sneakers, the new collection featured updated versions of its classic styles, like a velvet and leather lace-up shoe with metal loops in the place of eyelets; and a yellow, breathable knit shoe with velcro tops and leather details. For a day in the office or a formal evening out, the collection turned to animalier, seen in styles like a green snakeskin loafer, and a chunky heel in zebra suede, with a buckle strap at the ankle.

A collection of eyewear, silk scarves, and handbags graced Bulgari’s showroom during its Spring/Summer 2020 presentation. Large shapes and wide frames were the go-to for the season’s glasses, seen in looks like a copper and black rectangular aviator, or a rounded cat eye shade in pink. For the scarves, two styles—a large square, or a long, thin tie-style scarf—were seen in an array of colorful prints featuring snake and butterfly motifs. The collection also featured a collaboration with Alexander Wang, who reimagined the brand’s iconic Serpenti motif for the new handbags. Each bag (including styles like an envelope case, an Airpods case, and a quilted backpack) featured a snakehead closure with glimmering black onyx eyes.

Giuseppe Zanotti brought back its signature, feminine elegance for the upcoming season, seen in a collection of shoes and handbags. Updating classic designs with a chicly unfinished touch, we saw an array of materials like suede, satin latex, nappa, and vinyl complementing a number of styles, ranging from stilettos to kitten heels, and mules to sneakers. Serving as the collection’s main motif, there were several variations of a flower adorning shoes—like a heel with a leather calla lily blooming from the top, and a flat sandal with a blush colored beaded bloom. For handbags, the collection included styles like a slouchy shimmering clutch and (our favorite) a belted bucket bag, available in jewel tones like red, emerald, and blue.
