Trussardi fall/winter 2016

Trussardi Twang: Designing Around Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”

Last weekend, Trussardi unveiled its women’s fall/winter 2016 collection as part of Milan Fashion Week. Inspired by the song “Jolene,” the collection evokes the overpowering femininity and rustic twangs from Dolly Parton’s classic country hit, weaving folksy accents into the collection’s modern style.

Materials matched paired off in unexpected combinations: reverse shearling lined a denim jacket, and dark leather layered over a corduroy suit. Coats and jackets borrowed boning from corsets to create hourglass silhouettes, with printed silk scarves and dark sunglasses adding sophisticated glamour to the looks. Standout pieces included a dark red velvet skirt and jacket; a glen check suit with a patterned waistcoat; and a bold ombré blazer fading from patterned wool to tan suede.
