Bottega Veneta Ruminates on Resilience for Winter 2024

Within an experiential set designed by Creative Director Matthieu Blazy, a burnt orange evening glow was cast upon models swathed in the vivid new collection, surrounded by shimmering glass cacti with budding flowers.

At Milan Fashion Week, Bottega Veneta offered an immersive and poetic winter 2024 runway presentation, looking to the burnished landscape of southern Italy for eternal optimism and resilience in daily dressing.

Within a set designed by Creative Director Matthieu Blazy, a burnt orange evening glow was cast upon models swathed in the vivid new collection. Shimmering glass cacti with budding flowers showcased fine artisanal craftsmanship of Murano, collaged with show seating created by Cassina with bespoke Le Corbusier LC14 Cabanon stools; the imaginative pieces enhanced with a seared wood finish were the result of time-honored Japanese technique and will go on to be featured at Milan Design Week.

“The floor is fired, the box stool fired, the Murano glass cactus is fired,” explained Blazy. “Each shows a unique identity through technique. Nothing repeats – like the Intrecciato. The elegance is in the simplicity, honesty and resilience.”

Matthieu Blazy Reveals Garments of Joy, Principle, and Prayer for the Incendiary World

In that same vein, Blazy called urgent attention to the incendiary state of our world with a shadowy succession of garments evoking joy, principle, and prayer. Highly touchable materials paying homage to the maison’s signature weaving technique expressed the fragile and extraordinary nuances of humanity.

The heating and molding of cashmere and wool bouclé resulted in gentle and sculptural looks. Refined jersey suiting, broad-shouldered knits, practical cotton calico shirts, and a myriad of shining leather pieces spoke to integrity of style.

Surreal Patterns Meet a Fiery Palette for Transcendent Grace À La Bottega Veneta

A palette set aflame, in mesmeric shades of ash gray, carbon black, and searing red, was offset by mirage-like hues of cream, pink, and yellow. Surreal patterns reminiscent of fire, flowers, and snakes found their way onto awe-inspiring garments including the handkerchief hem of a billowing skirt, ebbing and flowing on hypnotic sweaters, and radiating onto dresses of laser cut micro plissé.

An irrepressible circle of life found within the desert was imparted in curvaceous handbags, a provocative snake belt, and lyrical enamel earrings; jewels highlighting wood, ceramic, leather, and glass allow for entering the unknown with transcendent grace, knowing anything is possible.
