Gucci Opens Renovated Wooster Street Boutique in SoHo

In its 155-year-old landmark-protected building, the iconic Gucci boutique has been restored, with intentional design paired with creative director Sabato De Sarno’s visions of Italian beauty and craftsmanship.

Last weekend, Gucci celebrated the grand re-opening of its 63 Wooster Street boutique with a star-studded party. In the 10,000-square-foot space, VIPs also welcomed creative director Sabato De Sarno’s debut Gucci Ancora SS24 collection, attended by Gucci Americas CEO Federico Turconi and guests Daisy Edgar Jones, Elliot Page, Jessica Chastain, and more. In anticipation of Gucci Wooster’s opening, Gucci also sent a custom Ancora airstream traveling around New York City neighborhoods, offering warm beverages, flowers, and Gucci Ancora postcards to visitors.

Gucci Wooster’s Historic SoHo Architecture

The renovation of Gucci Wooster involved an extensive restoration of the original framework of the building, which was once a pencil factory, enhancing the historic site’s distinct features to embody a deep appreciation for the vibrant artistic history of SoHo. The interior architecture features exposed original brickwork, iron and wooden floors, tin ceilings, and columns, seamlessly integrated with new stainless steel, glass, and cement finishes.

The iconic lofty, industrial SoHo architecture harmonizes with Gucci’s collections, including women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and shoes, jewelry, accessories, the signature GucciValigeria lines, and the Women’s SS24 collection now debuting in stores worldwide.

Blending Inspiration, Heritage, and Italian Craftsmanship

As much a gallery as it is a boutique, Gucci Wooster is an impressive realization of the house’s enduring commitment to the arts. The space is furnished with Italian designs by Cassina, B&B Italia, and Minotti, including the Maralunga sofa by Vico Magistretti for Cassina, the La Bambola armchair by Mario Bellini for B&B Italia, and the Gladstone table by Rodolfo Dordoni for Minotti. A collection of modern and contemporary artworks curated by Gucci’s art partner Truls Blaasmo features sculptures and video art by American and international artists, such as Alighiero Boetti, Larry Bell, Lucio Fontana, Autumn Knight, and Sasha Stiles. The space also includes a screening room with custom 3D screen technology, complete with headphones and turmeric velvet armchairs.
